Albert Austin Fry, Pennsylvania Railroad passenger and freight agent at Martinsburg, Pa., died Tuesday afternoon. March 4th, at the Nason Hospital, Roaring Springs. He had been in failing health for the past two months but his demise came unexpectedly. He had been at the hospital for about two weeks and underwent an operation the day before.
Mr. Fry was a son of the late Abram and Mary (Flickinger) Fry, and was born at Donnally's Mills on April 24, 1877. He was united in marriage with May Blanche Sumner at Duncannon April 7, 1900. Surviving are Mrs. Fry; one daughter, Mrs. Grace Conley of Philadelphia; one sister, Mrs. F.O. Hamilton. Duncannon: one brother, Harry M. Fry, of Shermansdale. Two brothers preceded him in death.
Mr. Fry had been agent for the Pennsylvania Railroad at Martinsburg for the past thirteen years, during which time he was a leader in church and civic affairs of his community. He was educated at Shippensburg State Teachers' College. After being stationed at Martinsburg he affiliated with the Gibson Memorial Presbyterian Church and served as an elder and treasurer of the Sunday School and taught the Bible Class. He was a member of the Booster's organization which "was the leading civic organizations. He served as secretary of the borough council and was a member of the board of education and was very popular with the boys and girls of the schools of the community. Mr. Fry was a member of the Independent- Order of Odd Fellows at Alum Bank where he had his membership transferred from Evergreen Lodge, No. 205 of Duncannon.
Mr. Fry entered the service of the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1912 at Duncannon, as a clerk. After serving the company here he was transferred to Reynoldsdale, later to Martinsburg. While at Duncannon Mr. Fry took an active part in church and civic affairs, having served here on the school board.
Pall bearers were Frank Fenstemacher. Miles Flickinger. J. S Hochlander, Charles Fuller, and Elmer Dunkle.
