Michael Monroe Bond, 54, died Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at his home in San Francisco. Services will be held Saturday, June 17 at 2 p.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Kerrville.

Michael was born March 10, 1963 in Germany and adopted by the Rev. and Mrs. Marvin M. Bond (Red and Elene). The Bonds lived in Wharton, Texas and then moved to Port Neches, Texas. When Michael was four years old, the family moved to Kerrville.

Michael grew up attending public schools in Kerrville and graduated from Tivy High School in 1981. He attended the University of Texas at Austin and Schreiner University in Kerrville. He graduated from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio.

After the death of Michael's partner, Stephen Stanley, in November 1988, Michael moved to San Francisco and worked for several firms. In 2012 he decided on a career change and graduated from California Culinary Institute in 2013. Before Michael could embark on his new vocation, he was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. A remission was achieved in the spring of 2014, and Michael was able to make several trips with family. A relapse in 2015 marked a long course of treatment that seemed to be proving successful.

Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Elene Dye Bond in 1985; his sister, Barbara Lynn Gibson in 1996; and his father, the Rev. Marvin M. (Red) Bond in 2013. His Cline grandparents also preceded him in death: Margaret Farrar Cline in 1997 and William Aldridge (Billy) Cline in 2012.

He is survived by his stepmother, Bunny Bond; birth father, Robert Cline, Sr.; half-sister, Sarah Wilkins and her husband, Burke; half-brother, Robert Cline, Jr. and his wife, Melissa; stepbrothers, Ian Nichols and Lorenzo Nichols Sands and husband Bobby Dale Sands; Barbara's daughter, Beth Shadron and husband John; sister, Carolyn Bond Kaliski and husband Mike and their children, Bill Weirich, Sarah Kaliski, David Kaliski and wife Debora, and Katherine Kaliski; sister, Mary Bond Wilson and husband Jeff and their children, Hannah Tougas and husband Ben, Jessica Wilson, and Zachary Wilson and fiancé Maddie Kautz. Michael is also survived by nieces and nephews, Emily and Jack Wilkins, Ryan and Katie Waples, Kallie and Courtney Tougas, Ailey and Avalyn Wilson, Joshua Shadron, Sadie Kaliski and Max Kaliski; cousins, Stephen and Lee Bond, Debbie and Stanley Thomas, and David and Jean Bond; two aunts and one uncle, Peggy Cline Wood, Carolyn Cline Northington, and Bill Cline and wife Kathleen; as well as Cline cousins.
