DEATH OF MRS. ELIZABETH JONES
Yesterday afternoon the funeral of Mrs. Elizabeth Jones was preached at the Sumption Prairie Presbyterian Church by Rev. J. H. Stover, of this city. Mrs. Jones was born in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, October 9, 1798, and died October 9, 1881. She moved to Indiana twenty-five years ago. She left one sister living, who is 85 years of age, four sons and four daughters. Uriah and Silas Jones and Mrs Margaret Whitman are residents of this county. Her four sons were all present at the funeral, the first time they have met in forty years. Mrs. Jones was the mother of ten children, the grandmother of 81 children, and the great-grandmother of 25 children, only eleven of whom have died, so there are fifty-five children, grandchildren, and great-grand children living.
This is the third person who has died near our city during the last two weeks who was born the same year the constitution of the United States was adopted – 1798.

Mrs. Elizabeth Jones died in South Bend, Indiana, early in October. She was the relic of the late Nicholas Jones, who lived on Butternut Ridge and died there twenty years ago or more. Mrs. Jones was widely known among the old residents of this vicinity, though she outlived most of her contemporaries, being eighty-four years and upward at time of death. She was the mother of Mr. Samuel F Jones, of Butternut Ridge, and Mrs. Ann Rector of Norwalk.
