Dennis Jason Burgess, 60, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2021. Born in Prosperity, SC, he was a son of Billy Burgess and the late Christine Miller Burgess Poole. Known for his free spirit and caring heart, Dennis will also be remembered as one who loved to laugh and joke. He will be missed by many family and friends.
In addition to his father and stepmother, Billy and Carolyn Burgess, he is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Marie Burgess (Jarvis Johnson); two grandchildren; his siblings, Michael Burgess (Candi), Dee Boatwright (Lonnie), Donna Duncan, Jill Godbey (Jamie) and Carson Burgess (Christie). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
The service for Dennis will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, May 17th at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery, 879 Beulah Road, Leesville, SC. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the funeral home. The family request that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to: Transitions Homeless Center, 2025 Main Street, Columbia, SC 29201 or to Beulah Baptist Church, 879 Beulah Road, Leesville, SC 29070.
