Pamela Lorraine Walters, age 68, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on May 30, 1952 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to Thomas E. Walters and Lillian L. Walters, née Donohue.

From the moment she could read Pamela surrounded herself with books. Her passion for reading and education led her to earn a Bachelor of Library Sciences from UT El Paso and a Masters in Library Sciences from Texas Woman's University. While at UTEP she pledged the Delta Alpha chapter of Kappa Delta in 1971 and was a lifelong active member.

Her career as a librarian began at the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of San Antonio and culminated as head librarian at John Marshall High School where she enjoyed every minute of 21 years of dedicated service. Known for her sharp wit, zest for life, and hospitality, Pam was a valued mentor in both her private and professional life, as well as a cherished member of her book club. She was a loving mother and loyal sister whose sense of humor, compassion, and perseverance will forever be missed. Her children were immensely proud of all her accomplishments.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, James R. Irwin II.

Pamela is survived by her children Emily L. Rose and Andrew R. Irwin; grandson Jaxon T.A. Rose; and siblings Thomas Walters, Amy Reynolds, and Catherine Salazar.

The family will receive friends and guests beginning at 5:30 PM on Friday, May 21, 2021 at Porter Loring Mortuary North with a rosary following at 7:00 PM.

A Mass will be held at 2:30 PM on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Porter Loring North.
