SOUTHWEST OSWEGO — Funeral services for the Rev. Roy W. Scouten, 74, retired Methodist minister and former pastor of the Southwest Oswego and Oswego Center churches, will be held at 1 p. m. Wednesday in the Methodist church at Nicholville.
He died at his home in that village Sunday night after an illness of six weeks.
A member ot Northern New York Methodist Conference 31 years. Mr. Scouten was born in Forestport, March 30, 1878, son of Edwin M. and Julia Klowe Scouten.
He was educated at Alleghany college and Boston Theological seminary. While a student he served the Methodist Church at Gardner, MA.
Mr. Scouten married the former Lila Loveless in Forestport, Aug. 5, 1906.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, the Rev. E. Kendall Scouten of Beaver Falls and Wesley G. Scouten, Schenectady; two daughters, Mrs Alton Sherman of Canton and Mrs. John Burt, Spring Valley; a sister, Mrs. Lillian Brooks, Boonville; a brother, Floyd Scouten, Boonville; several grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
