Joseph P. Gudaitis, 96, of Johnson City, born August 23, 1923, in Forest City, PA. He was predeceased by Teresa Panella Gudaitis (1st wife), Ruth B. Wood Gudaitis, (2nd wife), parents; Stanley & Veronica Gudaitis, stepmother, Rose Gudaitis, brother and sister-in-law, John and Betty Gudaitis, sister and brother-in-law, Eva and Alex Baron. He is survived by his daughters; Veronica (John) Hurley, Melanie (Gary) Farmer, Christine (Bill) Casey, 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, especially, Dr. Rick Baron and Susan, John and Gayla Baron and children, whom gave him much joy. In younger days Joe loved gardening, hunting and fishing, and always had stories about "the one that got away". He had various jobs as a lumberjack for a baseball bat company, factory worker, auto mechanic, and most recently a crossing guard where he took delight in seeing the children every day. Joe loved the holidays with family and loved his Yankees and Syracuse. He took joy in giving scratch-offs as gifts and seeing if anyone had a winner. He played his numbers every day hoping to win big, not realizing that he had already won the lottery by celebrating his 96th birthday! A special thanks to the staff at skilled nursing esp. Dr. Eisenberg and family, Larry, John, Kari, Suzanne and physical therapists for your excellent care and compassion. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
