Sherry Martinez, 66, of Muscatine, died Thursday, May, 13 2021 at UnityPoint Trinity in Muscatine. Funeral services for Sherry will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, May 17, 2021 at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Muscatine. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 16, 2021 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home. A memorial has been established at the funeral home in memory of Sherry. Sherry Lee Thorne was born on May 20, 1954, in Muscatine, the daughter of Jim Thorne Sr. and Anna Marie Burke. On November 1, 1969 she was united in marriage to Ismael Martinez in West Liberty. She worked at the Muscatine Care Center as a CNA and CMA for 13 years before retiring. Sherry enjoyed playing bingo, fishing and most of all spending time with her family.
Sherry will be deeply missed by her husband, Ismael Martinez of Muscatine; children, Freddy (Nadine) Martinez, Peter Martinez, Wendy Martinez, Brandy (Joshua) Gilpin and Cindy (Cruz) Echevarria, all of Muscatine; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Jim Thorne Jr of Muscatine; sisters, Diane (Mariano) Rodriguez of Muscatine, Carol (Buck) Snyder of Muscatine, Bonnie West of Louisa County and Connie (Kenny) Osborn of Muscatine.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Sadie Alvarado; brothers, Allen Thorne and Walter Williams
