Gary graduated from high school in Manchester Connecticut, received a BA from the University of Connecticut, an MA from Central Connecticut State University, completed an education sixth-year certificate, and took additional PhD level classes from the Univ. of Connecticut. He was faithfully married for 58 years to his college sweetheart, Barbara J. Troja whom he married while he was on active duty in the US Army reserves in Montgomery Alabama. He taught school in Ellington Connecticut then for 18 years in the Panama Canal Zone. He also built houses in Cape Cod, Sarasota and Tallahassee. Later Gary worked for the City of Sarasota and retired in Tallahassee.
Throughout his life, he enjoyed traveling/visiting the world, short-term missions, local civics, boating, and water skiing. Gary was a devout Christian - a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. He was a family man, sweet, caring, generous, and phlegmatic.
He was preceded into Glory by his parents and two unborn grandchildren.
Gary is survived by his devoted wife Barbara (Troja) Hudson, his son Scot Hudson with his wife Karen of Tallahassee, and his son David Hudson with his wife Michelle of League City Texas, both of whom he loved unconditionally. He is also survived by his twelve precious grandchildren, Caleb, Nathan (Carrie), Joseph (Hannah), Christiana, Jeremiah, Samuel, Isabella, Arabella, Scot II, Joshua, Katherine (Jordan) Argabright, and Olivia (Lloyd) Dacanay; and four beautiful great-grandchildren, Elijah, McKenzie, Ethan and Benjamin.
Gary will be fondly remembered by two brothers Kenneth E. (Lynda) of Arizona, Jon V. (Bonnie) of Florida. and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 16, 2021, at 2:00 pm at Fellowship Baptist Church, 3705 N. Monroe St, Tallahassee, FL. with internment on a later date at the Tallahassee National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fellowship Baptist Church Building Fund.
