Mrs. Marie D. Wooten, 83, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born June 20, 1924, in Yadkin County to the late W.H. "Hubert" and Gracie Dull. Mrs. Wooten was a graduate of Twin City College of Commerce, was retired from Yadkin County Clerk of Superior Court and was the first female to head the Yadkin County Board of Elections. She was a lifetime and faithful member of Enon Baptist Church where she was active with the church kitchen and enjoyed the years she spent as leader in the Enon Baptist Church Youth Department. Mrs. Wooten loved life and the time spent with her family cooking, gardening or taking care of the many animals she had at home. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Harry Dull. Surviving are her beloved husband of 63 years, Edsel Wooten of the home; her four loving children, Eddie (Hedy) Wooten of East Bend; Nancy (Johnny) Steelman of Yadkinville; Ann (Terry) Dawson of High Point; and Kathy (Tom) Hughes of Yadkinville; grandchildren Burke Wooten, Tasha Wooten Bargoil, Ginnie Wooten, Carla Davis, Tracy York, Marty Davis, Dana Austin, Preston Hughes and Sam Hughes; five great-grandchildren, Gracie Bargoil, Brooke Davis, Skye Wooten, Natalie York and Brandi York; and her three sisters, Thelma (Jack) Wall, Brenda Spillman and Carolyn Long.
