Kathy was a member of Cherry Hill Church of God and loved going to church. She enjoyed reading, writing, drawing, and watching True Crime TV. Kathy also enjoyed taking social work classes, and most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 16, 2021 from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm at Cherry Hill Church of God in Haleyville, where the service will be held at 3:00 pm. Brother Joseph Martin and Brother Royce Brimer will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Nichols Funeral Home is directing.
Kathy is survived by her sons, Justin Fortenberry, William "Rusty" Fortenberry, Keith Simmons; daughter, Sandra; grandchild, Vincent Fortenberry; special friend, Ophelia Fortenberry; step sons, Josh Cook, Catho Cook, Reggie Cook, Randall Cook, Blake Brown; step daughters, Katie Cook Carter, Mistie Johnson, Starla Aldridge, Chasidy Brown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenny Cook; mother, Linda K. Brown; aunt and uncle, Bob and Janice Sutton.
