Eva Evelyn Cook Wheeler was born September 30, 1929 and passed away surrounded by the love of her family on May 12, 2021.
Eva was the second youngest of 7 children born and raised in Pleasant Grove, AL. She met Mr. Grant Wheeler as a teenager, where he fell in love with her as she mopped the front porch of her family's log cabin in a pleated skirt. They were married January 19, 1947 and spent the next 61 years happily married on the hillside, loving their 5 children and a multitude of grandchildren in the home he built for them. She was a long-time member of the Pleasant Grove Church of the Nazarene.
Eva was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Grant Wheeler, Sr.; parents William Emory Cook and Charlcy Evelyn Cook; daughter-in-law Dr. Tara Jernigan Wheeler; siblings Kent Cook (Opal), Kyle Cook (Isabell), Harris Cook (Mary), Norman Cook (Bobbie), Hilda Morden (Ed), Allene Wheeler (Wilson), brother-in-law Fred L. Stanford. She is survived by her children Joe Wheeler, Jr. (Frances), Pam Johnson (Randy), Debbie Coppock (Doug), Scott Wheeler (Robin), Brian Wheeler (Tara); grandchildren Joseph Wheeler, III (Melinda), Amanda Marcum (Mitchell), Emily Brown (Chris), Jared Johnson (Danielle), Andrew Johnson (Aubrey), Kerry Johnson (Jasmine), Grant Coppock (Kristin), Amy Piper (Erik), Haley Hinton (Jake), Hannah Kinard (Davy), Christopher Wheeler (Lacy), Ben Wheeler (Destiny), Morgan Strawbridge (John David); great grandchildren Addisyn, Ryan, Henry, David, Isabella, Evelyn Claire, Lily, Waylon, Elsie Kaye, Kyah, Chase, Gage, Bryce, Ava, Eva , Charlie, Sarah, Amelia , Caroline, Cora, Catherine, Abby, Brooks; great-great grandchild Eli; numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
The visitation will be Friday, May 14, 2021, from 10:30 AM until 12:00 PM, Pleasant Grove Church of the Nazarene. The funeral service will be at 12:00 PM at the Church, with Bruce Hudson and Harris Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Grove Cemetery.
The pallbearers will be her grandsons, and honorary pallbearers will be her great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Pleasant Grove Church of the Nazarene or your favorite charity.
