Benjamin was born to the late Lillie Mae Cooper Berry on December 20, 1950 in Brooklyn, NY. He was raised in Zebulon, NC and graduated from James E. Shepard High School in Zebulon. He was employed at Devil Dog Manufacturing and Hardees Restaurant. During his later years, he stayed at home with his ailing mother and sister.
On January 28, 2007, Benjamin was baptized at Now Faith Community Baptist Church in Knightdale, where he committed his life to Christ. Benjamin, known to his family and friends as "Pete", will be remembered for being there for his family and always willing to lend a helping hand.
Benjamin was preceded in death by his mother, Lillie Cooper Berry; two sisters, Joyce Cooper and Diane Cooper Jones.
He is survived by three sisters; Mary Alice Daniels, of Maryland, Barbara Fowlkes of Raleigh, and Carol Jean Simpkins of Wendell; one brother, Bennie Jr. Cooper, of Wendell, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
