Merrill, Iowa - Leonard Allen Betsworth, 76, of Merrill died Thursday in a hospital in Le Mars after a long illness. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Merrill. The Rev. Mark Duchaine will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery In Le Mars. A parish wake service will be at 7:30 p.m. today with a rosary recited by the Knights of Columbus at 8 p.m. in Luedtke-Feuerstein Funeral Home In Le Mars. Mr. Betsworth was born June 16, 1910, in Johnson Township, Plymouth County and was a lifelong area resident. He farmed for many years in Johnson Township. From 1940 to 1950 he operated his own trucking business. He also acted as substitute rural mail carrier for 24 years in Merrill. He married Laura Dominick Feller April 14, 1953, in Le Mars. The couple moved to Merrill in 1972 and he continued to farm until 1979. Mr. Betsworth was a member of the Kinghts of Columbus, Trinity Council 1466 and Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Robert L. Feller and Robert J. Feller, both of Le Mars; two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Darlene) Estochen of Sioux City and Christy Feller of Santa Ana, Calif.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
