George Richard Wolff died Saturday, January 7, 2017, in Columbus, OH.

He was born in Dayton, OH., the son of George Herman Wolff and Mary Jane Kirves Wolff.

George is survived by his wife, Sondra Kay Wolff of Columbus, OH; his first son, Chris Wolff of Miami Beach, FL; daughter, Heather Ball of Dayton, OH; son, Derek Johnson of Portland, OR; and his sister, Charlene Wolff Cain. George also had two grandchildren, Bryan and Kaylee Ball. George is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol McCarthy Wolff and his sister, Marilyn Wolff Snyder.
George was a graduate of Chaminade High School, receiving his undergraduate degree at Wilmington College and his master's degree at Wright State University. He was a member and Past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus, Dayton Council #500.

He was a retired teacher, administrator, and board member in the Dayton Public School System for 30 years. George relished the idea of taking care of young adults and seeing them successfully through to graduation. Following his career in education, George worked for US Airways.

Socially, George was larger than life, well respected, and everyone greatly enjoyed his outgoing personality and company. He was a huge workout and gym fanatic. His favorite time was spent post retirement in Clearwater Beach, FL enjoying the warm weather and social life with his wife, Sondra.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Henry Catholic Church in Dayton, OH. The family will receive family and friends Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, from 10 am to 11 am at St. Henry Catholic Church prior to the Mass service. Burial services will conclude at Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to the Moffitt Cancer Foundation at moffitt.org/give-back/donate/ OR cancer.osu.edu/giving-back/.
