Larry Wayne Hollis
Monday, August 7th, 1944 – Tuesday, May 11th, 2021

Larry Wayne Hollis passed away on May 11, 2021. He was born on August 7, 1944 to Reginald Wayne and Jesse Lee McDaniel Hollis in Houston, Mississippi.
He gave 100% in what ever he was doing. He was a member of Vardaman High School Class of 1963. He was a tough-as-nails defensive tackle who could hit like a freight train and run faster than most running backs, not to mention he was strong as a bull which came from working hard bailing hay, and other jobs on the farm.
Larry's calling came to him and he joined the Navy in June of 1973. He was the old man in boot camp. Being about 10 years older than most other recruits, he made sure that everything was above board and done correctly. That was a trait that followed him in his 23 years of Naval Service and in his personal life. He retired from active duty in May of 1996.
He was a member of Pace Masonic Lodge #349 Pace, FL and Antioch Lodge #549 in Bruce, MS, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite in Pensacola and Hamasa Shrine in Meridian, MS. Larry was, you might say, Chief cook and dish washer at Pace #349 for a while, but he was happy to do it.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Reginald Wayne and Jesse Lee Hollis of Vardaman, MS.
Larry is survived by wife, Carol Elaine Hollis of Milton, FL; daughter, Lisa Carol (Charles) Pate; sons, Jonathan (Imelda) Hollis and Thomas Hollis of Pensacola; two granddaughters, Jennifer (John) McDaniel of Jacksonville, FL and Ashley Pate of Starkville, MS; great grandsons, Mason and Logan McDaniel of Jacksonville, FL; stepmother, Willene Hollis of Mantee, MS; brothers, Ken (Becky) Hollis of Tyler, TX and Steve (Cathy) Hollis of Greeley, CO.
Pallbearers will be: Jonathan Hollis, Charles Pate, James Foster, Jimmy Parks, Jason Hollis and John McDaniel.
Funeral services will be held at Trahan Family Funeral Home of Milton on Saturday, May 15, 2021. Visitation begins at 12:00 noon and service to follow at 1:00 pm. Interment will be held at Serenity Gardens Cemetery. Pastor Fred Rogers will be officiating.
