Mrs. Doris Lorena Edmonds Roberts, a loving mother and grandmother, daughter, wife, sister, aunt, and most importantly, a child of God, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 28, 2015. Doris was born April 10, 1938, in Winnfield, Louisiana to her parents, Yancey and Minnie Louise King-Edmonds, both of whom preceded her in death.

Doris received her high school education equivalent and then continued her studies to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. She worked at Leesville General Hospital and Byrd Regional Hospital for many years. Doris then worked 17 years with the Rapides General Hospital Home Health and Hospice Program. She was a compassionate nurse who ministered to all her patients' needs as a very attentive and understanding caregiver.

Mrs. Roberts was a very active member and a faithful servant to the Lord for many years at Old Anacoco Baptist Church and later at Canaan Baptist Church. Throughout her life she affectionately and faithfully prayed for family and friends. She rejoiced in teaching Sunday school until her health began to decline. She was very involved in WMU meetings and numerous other church activities. Mrs. Roberts was an active election poll worker and commissioner for many years.

She loved the outdoors and particularly enjoyed the beauty of birds on her peaceful and tranquil "Still Point Acre" where she treasured every moment spent with family and good friends. Doris greatly appreciated bird watching and flower gardening.

Doris married Howard Roberts, Sr. who preceded her in death in 1998. Also preceding her in death are four loving sons: Howard Roberts, Jr., Jeffery Roberts, Steven Anthony Roberts, and Paul Nolan Roberts, and one grandson, Allan James Eubanks. Doris had five brothers who also predeceased her: Donald Jerry Edmonds, Ronald Perry Edmonds, Samuel David Edmonds, Yancey Edward Edmonds, and Eric Blythe Edmonds; and two daughters-in-law: Elona Ilene Carpenter Roberts and Virginia Ann Roberts.

Doris leaves four children to cherish memories of her: three daughters andtwo sons-in-aw; one son; Eleven grandchildren; twenty one great-grandchildren; a host of nieces; nephews; and Christian friends. Her family's remembrance of her character and loving concern for all will be an even greater legacy.

Lastly, she will not be forgotten, but truly remembered as being a loving and faithful mother and grandmother who loved and trusted God and is now safe at rest.

Graveside Services were held on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 in the Canaan Cemetery Hwy 8 West of Leesville, Rev. Morris Goins officiated.
