Murray E. Williams was born on March 16, 1948 to Floyd and Gladys Williams of Panora, Iowa. He died Sunday May 3rd from complications of cancer. Murray was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Kay (Williams) Eastman and Marilyn (Williams) Baker; and brother Ronald. He leaves behind a son, Jeremy Williams of Ankeny; daughter, Melissa Williams of Pearland, Texas; sister, Carol (Williams) Smith of Casa Grande, Arizona; and four grandchildren.

Murray grew up on a farm and was always happy that he did. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War from January 1968 and was honorably discharged December 1969. Murray was an Iowa State Cyclone fan and loved attending events, games and could always be heard cheering them on. In his retirement he usually had on an ISU Cyclone shirt or sweatshirt. He was a Senior Instructor at Lincoln Technical Institute for almost 20 years and also served as Training Officer. He retired from YRC (Yellow Roadway Corporation) in Urbandale as a Customer Support Specialist. Murray was a past member of the Ankeny Volunteer Fire Department and was a nationally registered EMT-A. He was a licensed pilot and loved flying for enjoyment.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Ankeny Public Library.

Visitation will take place Sunday, July 12, 2020 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Memorial Services of Iowa, 4208 N. Ankeny Blvd. in Ankeny, IA. A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, July 13, 2020 at 11:00 a.m., also at the funeral home. Seating may be limited. In the event mourners are unable to attend, the Celebration of Life can be viewed by liking the Memorial Services of Iowa Facebook page to view the service live. Guests are invited to wear Iowa State apparel. Interment at Ankeny Memorial Gardens with military honors will follow the service.
