Murray was an Iowa State Cyclone fan and loved attending events, games and could always be heard cheering them on. In his retirement he usually had on an ISU Cyclone shirt or sweatshirt. He was a Senior Instructor at Lincoln Technical Institute for almost 20 years and also served as Training Officer. He retired from YRC (Yellow Roadway Corporation) in Urbandale as a Customer Support Specialist. Murray was a past member of the Ankeny Volunteer Fire Department and was a nationally registered EMT-A.
