George Dan Bates, 55, of Gurdon passed away July 5, 2019 at home with family by his side. George was born October 10, 1963 to the late Dan and Alma (Neal) Bates in Hope, Arkansas. A 1982 graduate of Nashville High School George has spent the past 33 years working for Xerox where his current position was Service Manager. A faithful man of God, George was a devout member of Calvary United Pentecostal Church in Gurdon.
George, a generous, intelligent man who loved to work with his hands and could fix virtually anything placed in front of him. George was proud of his sons-in-law, loved his daughters and lived for his grandchildren. George is survived by his one and only True Love of 33 years his wife Ronda (Joyce); brothers, Marshall (Phyllis) Bates, and Larry Bates; three sisters, Marjorie (Kenny) Carpenter, Sharon (Doug)Jester and Betty (Mike) Wiesniewski; three daughters, Avain Whittingham (Eric) of Gurdon, Kiesha Shelton (Michael) of Camden and Leah Dorsey (Josh) of Gurdon and 7 grandchildren, Wesley, Emma, Max, Abbi, Braxton, Vonn, and Jett.
Visitation will be held Monday July 8 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Calvary United Pentecostal Church in Gurdon AR.  Funeral service will follow the visitation at 7:00 p.m.  Interment will be Tuesday July 9, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Rose Hedge Cemetery.
