She was a native of Clay County and had lived in Haywood County since 1930. She was the daughter of the late John Oliver and Mary Anne Birdie Spivey Coleman. She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Halmond Cook, who died in 1993; three brothers; and five sisters. She was a member of Canton First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
She is survived by a son, Calvin D. Cook and his wife, Nancy, of Weaverville; two grandchildren, Melissa Miller and her husband, Robert, of DuPont, Wash. and Anna Catherine Roberts and her husband, Jim, of Arden; and a great-granddaughter, Rebecca Miller.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Rev. Patricia Chaput officiating. Burial followed at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Old Clyde Road
