She met a handsome young sailor, Bill Walsh, from Indiana and they were married on July 2, 1946. The newlyweds started their life in Indiana in a small apartment and without a lot of frills, but they had each other and that was all that mattered to them. Arlene and Bill were as much in love when they celebrated their 61st anniversary July 2, 2007 as when they were first married. They were two souls living as one and when Bill passed July 6, 2007, Arlene was broken hearted and would often say that Bill had promised they would go together. Now just four months later they have been reunited.
They moved to Utah in 1949, and started a wonderful family. They were blessed with four children, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Arlene was always the devoted wife and mother. Her life's desire was to take care of her husband, children and to spoil her grandchildren. A heart of gold and the love she spread to her family will live on through us for eternity. She always made sure that she took care of herself as well. Even at the age of 81 Arlene was smartly dressed and looked her best. Her family all knew that Thursday afternoon was the day she got her hair done and that all plans needed to be made around that appointment. Beautiful lady, we will always love you.
Arlene is preceded in death by husband Bill, parents, sisters Lois and Donna, brothers Dene and Gene. Survived by daughter, Debbie (Kevin) Malaska; sons, Jim, Mike (Vicky) and Steve (Mary); grandchildren, Jenni, John (Jodie), Jessie, Jacy (Trevor), Jeff (Katie), Angie (Terry), Matt and Ashley, great-grandchildren Madison, Colton and Brynlee.
Funeral Services will be held Thurs. November 8, 2007 at 12 noon at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Chapel, 3401 Highland Drive. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday evening and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
Mom and Dad are together again holding hands and jitterbuggin'.
