Martha Eliza McCombs was the 3rd born daughter of eleven children born to Hannah Hague (b. December 22, 1787 on the site of Brandywine Battlefield, Chester County, Pennsylvania) and Lambert McCombs (b. July 2, 1790 Chester, Delaware, Pennsylvania).

Martha Eliza McCombs and Joshua Hardman were married December 11, 1838 by Minister David Miller of the German Baptist Church, St. Joseph's County, Indiana.
Their 1st four children were born in South Bend, St. Joseph's County, Indiana.
Their next four children were born in Pope Valley, Napa, California.

Died at her home in Pope Valley. Funeral took place November 4, 1892.
