Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Charles J. and Roseda (Plante) Miller.
Jeanne-Marie grew up in Pawtucket, a devout Catholic, attended St. Jean Baptise Academy and then went to Rhode Island College where she graduated with a degree in education.
When there were no job openings for teachers, she began a lifelong career in retail. She was an executive specializing in point of sales with several large retailers including Carters, Ann Taylor, Reebok, Michaels, and Cherry & Webb. Her career took her from Rhode Island to Chicago to Massachusetts to Atlanta to Connecticut.
She enjoyed attending live theatre and Broadway shows, travel, craft festivals, good restaurants, and perhaps most of all shopping for clothes where she was always able to find a good deal.
Known as Jeanne-Jeanne to the children in her life, she loved spending time with her godchildren, nieces and nephews, and close friends.
Jeanne-Marie was skilled at all types of crafts – whether it was needlepoint, painting, sewing, cross-stitch or others – she had creative outlets that resulted in many treasured items which she often gave as gifts.
She is survived by a brother, Charles J. Miller, Jr. and his wife Nancy; cousins, Richard Lacroix and his wife Elizabeth; Dennis Plante; two nieces, Stefanie Summerer and her husband Eric and Jessica Young; great-nieces and nephews, Christopher, Jennifer, and Thomas Lacroix; and Noah and Evan Summerer as well as several close friends.
Visitation was held Friday, May 14, 2021 in the Henault-Gallogly Funeral Home, 5 Eddy Street, West Warwick followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 62 Pleasant Street, West Warwick. Interment was in Notre Dame Cemetery, West Warwick.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in her memory would be appreciated.
