Jerri Lewis-DeVaughn was born Geraldine Blankenship on February 19, 1935 in Delaware, Oklahoma. Her parents Opal Jewel Sellars and Jesse Lee Blankenship had 5 children; Jackie, Jimmy Joe, Wendell, Irene and of course Jerri.

Jerri met the first love of her life, Robert W. Lewis at a resort in Noel, Missouri. Her dream as a young lady was to become the wife of a football player and that she did when she married Robert for the next 30 years. In that 30 years came along their 5 children; Carrie, Mike, Camille, Robert Jr., and Lisa Kay. This beautiful woman's proudest moments were watching all 5 of her children graduate high school. They lived in Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, and ended up in Colorado.

Jerri accomplished many things in her lifetime. Jerri also had a dream of becoming an interior decorator. She was a very stylish sales woman in a high-end furniture store. She did this for 40 years. Jerri became the first woman in the trucking teamsters. She also learned how to fly a plane in her 30's. Jerri liked to live on the edge, yet she was very classy and loved to wear lipstick! As a young woman, she drove a blue corvette. She loves to smell of the beautiful flowers and listening to Green Green Grass of Home by Elvis.

As years passed, Jerri and Bob had 7 wonderful grandchildren; Robert, Stacy, Sandy, Justin, Jesse, William, and Shane. She also has 7 great grandchildren; Tyler, Derek, Kimberly, Miranda, Cami, Lea and Alexia. And one great great granddaughter, Angel Marie.

Jerri then met her second love of her life, Calvin DeVaughn, through her friends. It took Cal 9 years to marry Jerri. They enjoyed traveling, playing poker, and spending time with the family. Jerri and Cal were married for 20 years when Cal passed away.

She loves to shop for stylish clothes, purses and shoes. One of her favorite things to do is paint. Her favorite colors are red and yellow. Jerri loves fresh colorful flowers.

Jerri loved the life she had with all her children...all of them. She would like to be remembered as a mother, grandmother, and a friend who would always be there for anyone to come and talk to with an open ear and a full heart.

Forever in Our Hearts

A wife, a mother, a grandma too, This is the legacy we have from you. You taught us love and how to fight, You gave us strength, you gave us might. A stronger person would be hard to find, And in your heart, you were always kind. You fought for us all in one way or another, Not just as a wife, not just as a mother. For all us you gave your best, Now the time has come for you to rest. So go in peace, you've earned your sleep, Your love in our hearts, we'll eternally keep.
