On Thursday, April 29, 2021, Nathaniel Thomas, went to be with our Father in Heaven at Walter Reed Convalescent and Rehab Center, Gloucester, Virginia. At the time of his death, he was surrounded by his wife and two daughters who continued to tell him how much they loved him and that he would be at peace. Nathaniel passed away at the young age of 55.

In addition to his mother, Verdell Thomas McClammy, he was also preceded in death by his youngest brother, Anthony Thomas. Nathaniel leaves to honor and cherish his most precious gifts, his wife Tammy Thomas; two daughters, Britney (Chris) Thomas-Jones and Danielle Thomas, all of Newport News, Virginia; four grandchildren, Isaiah, Noah, Bailey, and Liam; father, Elisha Augustus Thomas of Castleberry, Alabama; brother Calvin (Lorraine) Thomas of Brewton, Alabama; two sisters Barbara (Purvis) Smith of Flomation, Alabama and Dianetta Jones of Brewton, Alabama; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Boulevard Newport News, VA. A graveside service, including military honors, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 13, 2021, at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk VA. Guests are required to wear masks and keep their social distance.
