Betty was born on March 26, 1936, in Adrian to Lewis E. and Ardith "Maxine" (Ragless) Griffith. Betty graduated from Sand Creek High School with the Class of 1953.
On June 5, 1954, Betty married her beloved husband, Warren Paul Bishop, Sr., and they were blessed with over 66 years together. It was during this time that Betty developed the patience of a saint having four sons within nine years.
Betty was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and a strong prayer warrior. She loved music and was a gifted pianist. She worked at the Salvation Army for many years, working in the office and as the pianist for Sunday Services. One of her joys in life was sitting at the piano and going from song to song in the hymnal and playing each with gusto. Betty volunteered at Bixby Hospital, Adrian College and at the Croswell Opera House for musical performances.
Family was the focus of Betty's life and she captured many special memories in photographs that filled numerous family albums. One may find it hard to picture Betty driving a large four-wheel tractor or chasing cows back to the barn, but when you are a farmer's wife you have many talents for keeping the homestead running. Betty was insightful and enjoyed taking part in a rousing conversation.
In addition to her husband, Betty is survived by her sons, Warren (Connie), Daniel (Nancy), Carl (Becky) and Gerald (Sarah) Bishop; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, with another on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Dorothy Rathke.
Funeral services will take place on Friday, May 14, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Maple Avenue Bible Church with her son, Pastor Gerald Bishop officiating. Burial will follow at Sand Creek Cemetery.
