Bruce Miles Taylor, 58, passed away in his West Frankfort, Illinois home on Thursday morning, May 6, 2021.

Bruce was born December 14, 1962 in Belleville, IL to Dennis Miles Taylor and Pauline ( Laur ) Taylor. He spent his formative years in Northern Illinois; first in Country Club Hills and then Frankfort. He played baseball and basketball in school and was also in the choir. He had the opportunity of a lifetime to travel to Europe to perform with the Lincoln Way Chorus while in high school where he made lifelong memories.

For many years Bruce worked as a school custodian in Country Club Hills, Illinois where he was known for the pride he took in his work.

Bruce loved to work out, and in the mid-20's he found Tae Kwon Do. He loved the discipline, the spiritual element, the camaraderie and the competition. He excelled quickly and won several tournaments in the Chicagoland area.

In his later years Bruce enjoyed simple pleasures, like sitting outside on the porch listening to music or the Cardinals game, waving to passersby. He had a soft spot for cats and cared tenderly for several strays who eventually succumbed to his charms and allowed themselves to be petted. Bruce wore his heart on his sleeve and he was loved by many who had the honor of knowing him.

Bruce is survived by his father Dennis Miles Taylor, sister Denise Munden (Ray); sister Elizabeth Garvey (Kenneth) ; Brother John Taylor; brother Brian Taylor (Kristina); and the following nieces and nephews; Lisa (Kevin) Truong, Charlie Prindiville, Andrew Munden, Jackson (Stephanie) Garvey, Casey ( Chelsea) Garvey, Joanna Garvey, Allison Taylor, Emily Taylor and Jacob Taylor. He is also survived by great nephew Jonas Truong and great nieces Freyja Truong, Alicia Prindiville and Thea Gravey.

He was preceded in death by his mother Pauline Taylor ( nee Laur ) and stepmother Marlene Thelma Taylor ( nee Eberhart ).

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 11:00A.M. at the Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort. Burial will be in the Tower Heights Cemetery alongside his paternal grandparents. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. till 11:00 A.M. on Saturday at the funeral home.
