George Edward Henderson, 86, of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, May 4 2021 in Paoli Hospital.

Born March 10, 1935 in Gladewater, Texas, he was the son of the late Theodore R. Henderson and Annie R. (Miles) Henderson. After moving North with his family, he entered the Pottstown school system. He was a graduate of Pottstown High School, where he excelled in track and field. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served our country in Europe and North Africa. He was honorably discharged, receiving both the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal in 1957.

George was an Entrepreneur. While living in Riverdale, NY he ran a successful plumbing business for many years. After relocating to Los Angeles, California, success continued with a profitable air conditioning business, as well as a dry cleaning repair business. He studied at UCLA earning a degree in Business. These endeavors were followed by his final business venture, a successful auto Insurance business he named Slam Dunk Insurance. He was an avid Philadelphia 76ers fan. He loved his family and cooking and his special spaghetti and meatballs with his red wine sauce. He loved fishing and was a lifetime Jazz music fan. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

He is survived by one brother: Willie R. Henderson, of Norristown; 3 sisters: Kate Rodgers, of Pottstown, Mary R. Shawell, wife of the late Howard H., of Norristown and Sandra E. Reddick, wife of Joseph H. Reddick, of Stowe; and special nephew and longtime caretaker: James Rodgers Jr., of Pottstown. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: Theodore R. Henderson Jr., Benjamin F. Henderson and Grover C. Henderson; and sister: Lucinda Lightbourne.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 4:00 pm on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at the Cattermole - Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington St, Royersford, PA 19468 610-948-7330. Officiating will be Brothers Ronald Lee and Larry London. Friends will be received from 3:00 - 4:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will take place privately in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Due to Covid, there will be no repass following the service.
