Helen M. Butler, 91, of Inverness, FL, passed away on May 5, 2021. She was born on August 17, 1929 in Aliquippa, PA, the daughter of George and Elizabeth Vas.

Helen is the second in a line of five related women christened, Helen Vas. She is related to more than 400 Hungarians throughout the USA and Central Europe.

She earned her Associates Degree in computers and worked for and retired from the State of Michigan. Helen was active in the Girl Scouts, National Honor Society, St. John's Catholic Church in Ypsilanti, MI and the Catholic Women's Club at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Also, she served as a Cub Scout den mother.

Survivors include six children; daughter, Nora and her husband David, their daughter, Amanda and her husband Andrew, and grandchildren, Evelyn and Ansel and their daughter, Anne; son, David and his son, David and his wife Itsaree; daughter, Wynn and her husband Armando, their children, Florence, Antonette and Margaret and three great grandchildren; daughter, Elizabeth and her daughter, Taresa and her husband, Brandon and a grandson, Thayne; son, George and his daughter, Heather and his grandchildren, Lilith, David II and Elizabeth; and daughter, Ava.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Anthony Downey, two sons, Anthony and Patrick, siblings, Anne, Elizabeth, George, Charles and Mary Jane as well as her second husband, Jack Butler, whom she will be laid to rest with at the Florida National Cemetery.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 AM, on Monday, May 17, 2021 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Inverness, with Fr. Claudius Mganga presiding. Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
