March 6, 1975 - Newell Mirror - Lucy E Ellis was born in Sac County Iowa on December 6, 1885, and died at the Newell Good Samaritan Center on February 25th, 1975 at the age of 89.
She was married on June 7, 1911 in Storm Lake, Iowa to Orville B. Ellis who preceded her in death in Storm Lake. She was the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Piercy. Lucy was a member of the First Congregational Church of Newell, the Rebekah Lodge, American Legion Auxiliary, NCN Club and the Kil Kare Club.
She is survived by her son Fay W. Ellis, grandson Lane W. Ellis, a brother, Ernest Piercy of Newell, great grandchildren Jason and Jennifer, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death in addition to her husband were a step-son Gladwyn, and brothers Henry, Herb, Edgar, Samuel, and John Robert, and by sisters Anna, Sarah, Elizabeth, Carrie, Cora, Catherine, Ellen, and Louisa, her twin.
Lucy was a life-long resident of the Newell Community and will be missed by many relatives, neighbors and friends in the area.
