Mr. Ingalls died Friday, November 3, 2007 at the Veterans Hospital in Temple.
He was born Aug. 28, 1928 in Detroit, Mich. to James and Anna Dingman Ingalls.
He was raised in Michigan and had lived in Palestine since 1981. He was a U.S. Army veteran of both World War II and Korea and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was retired as a driver with Shoit Freight Lines.
Mr. Ingalls was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Patricia Schroeder in 1993; and son Kenneth in 1959.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Roberta Ingalls of Palestine; sons, Gale Jr. and Kevin, both of Palestine, and Timothy and wife Ann Ingalls of Athens; daughter, Karen and husband Kelvin James of Gatesville; sister, Mary Arnold of Cheboygan, Mich.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army honor guard of Fort Hood.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kelvin James, Kyle Simpson, Steve Simpson, Carl Eylar and John Eylar.
The family will receive condolences from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
