Valerie Deanna Aikman, 62, of Fairview, TN, passed away on July 29, 2020.

She was an extraordinary 23 year survivor of primary brain cancer.

Born in Tacoma Park, MD on September 23, 1957 she was the only daughter to the late James and Dorothy Aikman of McDonald and Cleveland, TN. respectively.

She began grade school, first in New York and then as a result of her parent's missionary service, completed grade school and high school at the Beirut Adventist Church School in Sabtiyeh, Beirut, Lebanon.

After returning to the United States in the 1970's, she attended Southern College, now Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, TN, graduated with a degree in nursing on December 20, 1979, and then practiced as a registered nurse until 1996.

She enjoyed photography, painting and drawing throughout her lifetime, and played the flute, piano, and organ, which she often performed for church services.

She is survived by her children, Chantal Beck, Dillion Beck, and Scott Beck; their father, Jeffrey Beck, and her brother, Bill Aikman.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2020 at 2 pm at the Collegedale Memorial Park. Those attending are to arrive no earlier than 1:30 pm and to remember that the CDC guidelines recommend social distancing and wearing of facial coverings at all times while on the premises.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in her memory at www.stjude.org.
