She was born June 16,1936 in Holyoko, Colorado the daughter of Issac William and Mamie Loretta Bassett James.
Laura was raised and grew up in Colorado then moving to New Mexico in 2000 and later moved to live with her daughter Cheryl in rural Marion County, Missouri in 2016. She was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Clovis, New Mexico. She graduated from Flagler High School in Flagler, Colorado later attending college for two years. Laura worked as a Home Health Care Nurse in Colorado and New Mexico for many years. She loved a challenge teaching herself to play the organ and age 70 and returning to college at age 60. She loved to paint, singing in church choirs and visititing with family and friends. Most of all Laura loved her family especially her grandchildren who she loved spending time with.
Survivors include one daughter Cheryl Painter of Monroe City, Missouri and one son Dale James of Fort Morgan, Colorado.
One sister Margaret Rogers of Flagler, Colorado, 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Vernon Painter and one daughter Sharron Brunker.
There are no funeral services scheduled at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Garner Funeral Home & Chapel, Monroe City, Missouri.
