Margaret Eileen Smith Graham, age 86, resident of Mobile, AL, and wife of Ruffin J. Graham, Jr. passed away Sunday, May 9, 2021. Margaret was born March 6, 1935, in Fairhope, AL. Margaret attended Marietta Johnson School of Organic Education in Fairhope and spent her youth sailing on Mobile Bay.
Margaret and Ruffin were married on March 18, 1955, and moved to Lucedale, MS. where she raised their three children, Rebecca Forsythe (Graham), Ruffin Graham III (Helyn), and Margaret "Peggy" Horner (Jerry).
Margaret was the proud grandmother of four grandchildren: Michael Gerald Horner, Catherine Anne Graham, Ruffin Jennings Graham, IV, and Hunter Bernard Graham.
Margaret was a teacher's assistant at Lucedale Elementary School for 28 years. She was actively involved in the George County Hospital Auxiliary for many years. Margaret and Ruffin were devoted members of First United Methodist Church in Lucedale.
For the past nine years, Margaret and Ruffin lived in Mobile and attended Ashland Place United Methodist Church. She was a volunteer with the Joseph Project and participated in the Prayer Shawl Ministry.
A celebration of her life will be held at First United Methodist Church in Lucedale, Thursday, May 13, 2021, at 11:00 am. Visitation will be at 10:30 at the Church. Burial will be at Crawford United Methodist Church Cemetery at 1:00 pm in Mobile, AL. friends and family are invited to attend.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Mittie's Caregiver Service, Mittie Benion, Monteeze Parker, and Kenya Bass.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Joseph Project through Ashland Place United Methodist Church.
