Duane Edwin Allen
Duane E Allen (CW4-retired Army), gained his blue & orange angel wings on May 4th, 2021.
Born July 25th, 1933, to Orville and Vera Allen in Armel, Colorado.
The Dust Bowl drove the family off of the farm and they relocated to Kimberly, Idaho to start over.
Duane milked cows, plowed fields and rode a horse to school. (according to him: through the snow & uphill BOTH ways!)
Duane always loved sports, and he played football, basketball & ran track in high school. One of our favorite stories he told was when he played and managed a fast pitch softball team, and they went to the Old Penitentiary to play the inmates. Apparently, the inmates liked to shout "Watch out for that guy on First! He's in for Stealing!"
Duane worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for many years. He also enlisted in the US Army at age 24 and was active duty for 2 years and Army Reserves for 34 years. He was a military man, through and through & took forced retirement at age 60, with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer-4.
Duane was the "ULTIMATE" BSU sports FAN! He not only attended as many sporting events (not just football) as he could, but he spent many hours volunteering for them, raising money for auctions and sending out season tickets. His license plates even say "BRONCOS"! (Go Big Blue!)
He is survived by so many people who will miss him dearly:
His beloved wife of 47 years, Judy Allen.
Daughter: Debbie (m:Lonnie), Daughter: Laura, Son: Daryl (m: Ruthie), Daughter: Shari, Nine Grandkids: Christian (m:Rochelle), Rebecca (m: Kevon), Nicholas (f:Rachel), Tyler (m: Elise), Jordan, Cody, Rachel, Jesse, Brandon. And Nine Great grand-children: Colton, Easton, Hailey, Elliana, Delaney, Kayson, Nora, Mason & Quinn.
Also survived by his wonderful sisters: Dena (m: Norm), Koreen (m: Denny) and Connie (m: Dave)
We would like to send a special "Thanks" to Harrison's Hope Hospice for the wonderful care provided over the last several months. The aides, nurses, social workers, chaplain – you were amazing. Bless you for the job you do.
We also want to thank Greg and Brent for treating him (and us) with respect & dignity at the very end.
Graveside services will be on May 11th at 1:00 at the Idaho Veteran's Cemetery.
