Columbia, South Carolina - Virginia Shuman Price, 98, wife of the late Rev. Howard S. Price, passed from this world to be with her Heavenly Father on May 9, 2021, at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born February 12, 1923 in Jackson, Michigan, Virginia was the daughter of the late Fitzhugh Lee and Edna Mixon Shuman.

She grew up in Allendale, SC, graduated from Allendale High School and attended The Baptist Hospital School of Nursing receiving her degree as a Registered Nurse. After her graduation she worked as a nurse for 40 years. She also assisted her husband Howard for 62 years as they ministered to Riverside Baptist, Congaree Baptist, First Baptist, Central Baptist and Eastwood Baptist Churches in Columbia, SC and Pleasant Grove Baptist in Rockingham, NC.

She is survived by son, Howard (Buddy) Price, Jr. (Maree); two daughters, Sylvia Price Pruitt and Edna Price Strange; six grandchildren, Lee Price (Roxanne), Ben Price, Zoe Owen (Sion), Trey Pruitt (Patricia), Robbie Pruitt (Irene), and Kristie Freeland; 13 great grand-children, and three great, great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her brother Bobby, his wife Miriam and son Jeff; and her sister Dorothy Veal, her husband Nathan and son James.

She loved her family and worked tirelessly with her husband to minister to people from all walks of life. She was an accomplished soloist and loved to sing in church choirs. She was a member of Hope Baptist Church and the WOM.

She liked spending time working in her yard and marveling in its beauty. Her laughter was infectious, and she will be greatly missed by those who knew her.

A family visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 12th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext. and a Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 13th, 10:00 a.m., at Hope Baptist Church, 2117 Clemson Road, with burial at Fairfax Town Cemetery, Fairfax, SC. at 3 pm.
