He was born in 1952, in Bridgeport, CT, the son of the late Walter Powell and the late Helen (Richardson) Powell.
Steve retired from Gold Key Processing after many years of service. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, the many bonfires they had making s'mores, and camping with his grandkids. "Mean Old Steve" as he often referred to himself, enjoyed riding motorcycles and was past president of the Hydra Motorcycle Club in the 1970's, he loved animals; and never met one he did not like. Despite his lack of cooking ability Stephen made a great pizza and was "King of the Grill".
He is survived by his children, Kimberly Kamruzzaman, Ravyn Powell, Melinda Christy, Matt (Shonda) Waltenbaugh, Sherri (James) Pollock, unofficial adoptee Veronica Mallion; brother, David (Susan) Powell of Manlius, NY; grandchildren, Kristoffer, David and Caithryn Powell Brown, Brittany Christy, Bridget and Brock Logut, Shaun Riley, Drew and Mattalyn Waltenbaugh, Jessica and Beau Pollock and also 2 great grandchildren Lyrik and Lynkin Bailey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 31 years, Sheila M. (Jones) Powell. His second wife Deborah J. Powell followed him in death on May 5, 2021.
