He graduated from Palestine High School in 1960 and was Palestines first all-state basketball player. While attending The University of Texas as a Business major 1960 - 1965 he was active in the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
After graduating he worked in the insurance business in Houston and Austin. He was a sportsman, naturalist, birder, reader, beekeeper, gardener and home remodeler. In 1977 he set out on a life of travel and adventure an experience that occupied him to the end. Except between Continents he traveled by foot or public transportation extensively in Mexico, South America, Indonesia, Australia, Africa, the Middle East, India, the Himalaya and Malaysia. He returned to the states briefly and received his EFL degree and taught English for three years in Saudi Arabia. He lived and worked for 3 years in Paris, France. He returned to travel, basing out of Thailand where he eventually settled, while venturing out to Burma, Southeast Asia, India, and China. He had many friends and kept in contact going back to college and even grade school.
Indeed one of a kind. How he will be missed by many friends who survive him.
