James W. Washington, 70, of Sale City passed away Friday, May 7, 2021 at Crisp Regional Nursing Home and Rehab Center in Cordele.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home with interment at Pinecrest Memory Gardens.

Born June 18, 1950 in Mitchell County he was the son of the late George Winner Washington and Dowell Ruth Fulghum Washington. He was retired 1st SGT with the US Army, served during the Vietnam and Korean conflict, a paratrooper with 331 jumps at 500 ft and also worked as a jailer with the Mitchell County Correctional Institute. He was a member of Sale City Baptist Church. James was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Washington.

Survivors include his wife, Judi Howell Washington of Sale City; two daughters, Connie Jean Harris of Camilla and Stephanie Leach of Doerun; sister, Marilyn (Billy) Weathersby of Camilla; grandchildren: Gina Marie Harris, Shane Harris, Gabriel Harris, Jasmine Leach, Queria Washington, Fatina Leach and Caleb Leach; step-daughters, Julie (David) Blackwell and Jenny Newsome; step-grandchildren, Nathan Blackwell, Jacob Blackwell, Tatumn Newsome, Cotton Newsome and Jolie Newsome; sister-in-law, Melba Washington Wisham and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 10, 2021 at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home in Camilla.
