Mildred E. Thompson, 96, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 3, 2021 in Red Lion at the home of her niece, Joan C. Thompson. She was the wife of the late Auburn Thompson.
Born in York she was a daughter of the late Glenville and Clara E. (Helman) Kashner. Mildred worked for various sewing factories in York County before retiring after 27 years at Standard Register. She was a wonderful cook who also enjoyed BINGO, lottery tickets, and fishing. Mildred loved animals and rescued many during her lifetime.
She is survived by nieces Joan Thompson and Gloria Thompson, several other nieces and nephews, and additional Thompson family members and friends who provided care for her. Mildred was preceded in death by her brother Richard Kashner, Sr. and her sister Helen Striebig.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 11AM from Joseph Giesey Memorial Cemetery, Highland Ave. Shrewsbury.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the SPCA of York County, 3159 Susquehanna Trail North, York, PA 17406 or to St. Jude's Tribute Program, 501 St. Jude Place, P.O. Box 1000, Memphis, TN 38105.
The family would like to thank all her caregivers and Hospice & Community Care for their loving care and support during this time.
