Jetmore- Harry Russell Burns, 76, died Friday, May 7, 2021 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Ks. He was born on May 22, 1944 in Larned, Ks. the son of Lawrence Russell and Mary Elizabeth (VanVleet) Burns. He was a lifetime area resident graduating from Jetmore High School and then later playing football for Dodge City Community College and graduating with an Associates in Science. Throughout his life he worked hard at several jobs, but he was always a mechanic and general repairman. Harry spent a lot of time working with 4-H kids. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, visiting with anyone and everyone, playing cards and water skiing (which he last partook in on his 65th birthday and was so proud!) Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren, never missing a ballgame.
On June 12, 1964 he married Deloris Lee Burge at the United Methodist Church in Jetmore, KS. She preceded him in death on April 14, 2008.
Survivors include: 2 sons, Kenny (Kim) Burns and Tim (Ashley) Burns all of Jetmore, KS.; 2 daughters, Deb (Jim) Ochs of Jetmore, Ks. and Irlana (Todd) Meyers of Meade, Ks.; his siter, Betty Romero of Spirit Lake, Iowa; 13 grandchildren: Josh, Haley, Skyler, Jo'Beth, Samantha, Charlotte, Ben, Logan, K.L.M., Austin, Justin, Brody and Alivia; 2 great grandchildren, Rosalee and Juniper and a sister-in-law, Darlene Burge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Nate Burns, one sister Mary "Poodle" Keiley, 2 grandsons, Kincaid Meyers and John Ochs.
Funeral service will be on Wed. May 12, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Community Church, Dodge City, Ks. with Rev. Kirk Larson officiating.
