1926 - 2021
Salem - Our loving father, Kenneth Eldon Jensen, born March 9, 1926, in McMinnville, Oregon, to Thorvald Christopher and Sigrid Eleanor Jensen, passed away, May 3, 2021, at the age of 95. He was very much loved and will be deeply missed.
He grew up in McMinnville, Oregon, where he attended schools.
He was inducted into the Navy July 17, 1944, and was honorably discharged July 22, 1946, receiving the World War II Victory Medal. He was a cook on the Naval trains and could cook his family up some amazing pancakes. As children we giggled as he flipped those pancakes up in the air, landing back down perfectly every time, all the while, listening to polka music, on a Sunday morning.
He was an avid mechanic and worked most of his life in auto parts, retiring from Skyline Ford, in Salem. The family benefitted greatly by those skills.
He was active in his church and often told tales of repairing and driving the Court Street Christian Church bus. He dearly loved it.
He settled in Salem after his discharge and married, Barbara White.
He later met his soul mate, Elnora Jean Aydelott. They married on September 22, 1970.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elnora.
He is survived by his sister, Evelyn Motmans; his brother, Richard (Gerry) and his children, Duane, Colleen (Rick), Patricia (Adrian), Robert (Karla), Julie (Steve), Bill (Melissa), Dave (Carol), Doug (Lenette), Beth (Terry) and Melinda (Phil). He loved and claimed everyone of us, as his.
He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
He will be loved, remembered and never forgotten.
Services will be held at Belcrest Memorial, 1295 Browning Ave S., Salem, OR 97302, at 12:30pm., Tuesday May 11, 2021. Assisting the family is Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
