Carolyn Massey, Daughter of the late Nathaniel B. Woods, the late Dorothy Thompson and
raised by the late John R. Thompson was born February 24th, 1951 in Fort Smith. AR.
Peacefully, she departed this life on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at Baptist Hospital in Fort
Smith, AR. As a young girl she gave her life to Christ. She attended church in Baltimore. Upon returning
home she reunited with Union Missionary Baptist Church where she was a member. She loved
to hear " Take My Hand Precious Lord. " During her youth her family moved to Baltimore, Maryland where she attended Douglass High.
She later moved to Mckinney, TX. where she attended Job Corps and graduated with a degree
in Cosmetology. Moving back to Baltimore, Carolyn worked as an Garage Attendant. Shortly
after she gave birth to her only child Kimberly Oliver. She loved the Baltimore Orioles; they were
her favorite team. She used to attend their games. Carolyn to some (Nan) to most, In 1984 she returned back to Pocola, Caroyln worked for
Southern Steel and Wire for over 25 where she retired from after the plant closed. She enjoyed
traveling to see her Granddaughter, eating crabs, going to the Casino, babysitting and spending
time with her great grandchildren. She leaves to cherish to her memory one daughter, Kimberly Oliver; four grandchildren,
Theresa(Godfey) Wilson, Michael (Kiara) Oliver, Jamille and Devin Oliver; nine great
grandchildren, Gabrielle, Godfrey Jr., Jae'Cion, Zoey, Giahana, King, Derek, Nylah and Jakoby;
two brothers, Joe(Patrica) Massey of Pocola, OK., Ricardo(Felecia) Thompson of Fort. Smith;
one uncle, Chester(Roz) Thompson of Nashville, TN., two aunts; Debra Thompson of Baltimore,
MD. Mary Brown of Oakland Cali.; nine nephews, Anthony, Joseph, Aaron, Andre, Ricardo
jr.(Lil Rick),Dezmond, Kheem, Khaiheem, La Marcus; 2 nieces, Theresa(Kevin) Henson
Shellander(cocoa)Massey, host of Cousins, great- great nieces and nephews and her Dixon
Sisters! Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Union Baptist Church at Pocola, OK. with interment at Leard Cemetery
