Doug was predeceased by his sisters Ruby Edwards and Hilda Gosnell and by his brothers Albert, Jim and John Barnes. Following his service with the Canadian Navy, Doug held positions with Rockwell International, the Chatham Jail, the Blenheim Arena and the Blenheim Community Golf Course for 25 years. Cremation has taken place. The Barnes family invite family and friends to the Blenheim Community Funeral Home for visitation on Sunday from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m. The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 185 where Doug was a member for 53 years will conduct a Legion Service on Sunday at 7 p.m. A Memorial Service for Doug will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday August 16, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with Legion Padre Bill Terris officiating. Friends wishing to remember Doug with a memorial donation are asked to consider the Chatham Kent Health Alliance Oncology Unit or the Palliative Care Unit.
