Maggie-Jean Lewis Turner daughter of the late Clarence Lewis, Sr. and Janie Bargeron Lewis was born in Greensboro, North Carolina. She stepped into the portals of glory on Saturday, April 27, 2021, at Legacy Garden Retirement Community, Iowa City, IA..

Maggie-Jean "Jean" received her formal education in the Greensboro City School System, graduating from James B Dudley Senior High School. She continued her formal education at Bennett College where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education and Master of Education Degree from North Carolina A&T State University.

With over sixteen years previous experience, Jean was employed with the Iowa City Community Schools for over twenty five years, serving at Horace Mann Elementary and Longfellow Elementary Schools. In support of her stu-dents and love of teaching, she was active in Tutorial Programs for Math and Reading; and participated in Cultural Affairs Programs In the school. Her professional affiliation included the Iowa State Education Association; Na-tional Education Association; National English Teacher Association and Iowa City Teachers" Union.

Jean was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Darwin T. Turner, Iowa City, IA; sons, Dr. Frenese Rachon Fulton, Rapid City, SD, parents, five brothers and one sister. Survivors include one sister, Georgie L. Wright and one brother, Roy Lewis, Greensboro, NC.
