Danny Alson Wright, Sr., 65, of Ina, Illinois, passed away at 7:05 pm May 6, 2021 at Saint Louis University Hospital in Saint Louis, Missouri. He was born May 10, 1955 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Mount Vernon by Dr. A.W. Modert, whom Danny was named after, to the late James Frank and Freda Kathryn (Austin) Wright. Danny married Debra "Debbie" (Woolley) Wright on October 22, 1977 and again on February 15, 1992 at West Side Baptist Church in Mount Vernon and she survives in Ina, Illinois.

Danny worked at General Radiator until the doors closed. From there he went to get his truck driver's license and went to work for Precision. He was able to take his wife and son on trips with him. He later worked for Royal Wholesale in Mount Vernon, Illinois until his health failed. He was very active in church functions, being the Salem South Baptist Association Sports Director for volleyball and softball. He was active with both West Side Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois and Faith Baptist Church in Belle, Missouri, serving on the Building Committee at both churches until his failing health. Danny was also a very active member of Mount Vernon Lions Club, often seen behind the wheel of the train, selling brooms or port chop dinners. He also joined the Belle, Missouri Lions and Marion Lions Clubs. Danny enjoyed his time spent with family and friends. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.

In addition to his beloved wife of twenty-nine years, Danny is survived by two sons, Dan Wright, Jr. and wife, Candice of Marion, Illinois, Stephen Broadway and wife, Michaela of Streator, Illinois; grandchildren, Viola Bailey, Xander Wright, Trea Wright, Makayah Wright, Regan Wright, and Tiffany Ann Wright of Bluford, Illinois; brothers, David Wright and wife, Helen of Griffith, Indiana and Raymond Wright of Rockford, Illinois; sister, Inez (Wright) Capps of Rock Island, Illinois; sisters-in-law, Marie Hamilton of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Vicki Stallman and husband, Kenton of Moberly, Missouri, Christi Lurk and husband, Tom of Branson, Missouri, Sherri Crider of Belle, Missouri, Kerri Jones and husband, Roy of Belle, Missouri; father-in-law, Harold "Wimp" Woolley of Owensville, Missouri nursing home; mother-in-law, Virginia Woolley of Belle, Missouri; and several nieces, and nephews. He is also survived by his very special friends, Gale and Theresa Hefner of Mount Vernon, Illinois and Ronnie and Anita Adcock of Bluford, Illinois.

In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Bryan; niece, Amber Prichard; nephew, Michael Wright; brothers, Wayman "Speed" Wright, Jerry Cantrell, Kenny Wright, Bobby Wright, and Steve Wright, and; sisters, Caroline Cantrell, Alice Wright, and Jane (Wright) Linville; sisters-in-law, Terra Sue (Wooley) Wright, Gloria Wright, and Genevieve Wright; brother-in-law, Bill Capps; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
