He earned a bachelor's degree in Science from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania 1970. In 2002, he earned his masters in business administration at Kennesaw State University. He married Anne Mae K. in 1971. His 30+ year retail experience started with S Klein's to Caldor from 1967-99. From 1999- 2017, he was the executive director of risk management for Atlanta Gas Light. He was of the Catholic faith. He is survived by his sons, Paul Wagner III and wife, Tina, Robert Wagner, and Eric Wagner and wife, Heather; sister, Dorothy Richwine; and half-sister, Loretta Pitts.
