Professional Football Player. Born George William Ratterman in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a quarterback for ten seasons (1947 to 1956) in the All-America Football Conference and National Football League, with the Buffalo Bills, New York Yanks and Cleveland Browns. He was a member of two NFL championship teams (1954 and 1955 Browns) where he served as a backup to Otto Graham. Ratterman enjoyed his most successful season in 1950 with the Yanks, when he passed for 2,251 yards, leading the league with 22 touchdowns, while being selected to the NFL All-Pro Team. Prior to his professional career, he played collegiate football at Notre Dame where he was a member of the 1946 National College Football Championship Team. In 92 career AAFC and NFL regular season games, Ratterman passed for 10,473 yards, with 91 touchdowns. He died of complications from Alzheimer's disease.
