She went to school at Pekin High School. She married Robert Denny on March 2nd, 1951 in Pekin. She spent most of her life working on the farm and taking care of the family. She worked at the Banner for a few years as well. Mary Lou attended South Liberty Church of Christ with her husband for most of her life. She had a wealth of knowledge in the kitchen and enjoyed working on the farm, especially in the garden. In her spare time, she loved to read.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Helen Bishop, her sister, Carol Sue Wright, and her husband, Robert Denny.
Mary Lou is survived by her children: Paul (Belinda) Denny of New Albany, David (Jonell) Denny of Salem, Joyce (Bill) Mendenhall of Jeffersonville, and John (Christina) Denny of Pekin. She is survived by 8 grandchildren: Jeremy (Angie) Denny, Phillip (Jenni) Denny, Trey (Sherry) Denny, Hannah (Jacob) Johanningsmeier, Heather (Nathan) Hawley, Ellen (David) Ockay, Brian (Kelsey) Mendenhall, and Tyler (Autumn) Denny. Great grandchildren: Avery, Riley, Jake, Evan, Karlyn, Grant, Allie, Ashton, Adrienne, Alysse, Corinne, Claire, Charlotte, Cora, Eden, and Nash.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Denny, Phillip Denny, Trey Denny, Jacob Johanningsmeier, Nathan Hawley, Brian Mendenhall, Tyler Denny, and David Ockay who will be unable to attend.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 9th at South Liberty Church of Christ from 4-8 p.m. and on Monday, May 10th from 9-11 a.m., with the funeral to follow. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday at South Liberty Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Martinsburg Cemetery. Arrangements are being made by Weathers Funeral home.
