Irene K. Childers, formerly of Coffeen, died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, in Culbertson Memorial Hospital, Rushville. She was 98 years old on July 17. Mrs. Childers resided in Lewistown where she was a correspondent and columnist for the Fulton Democrat for many years. She played the piano and had a band, Irene and Her Sugar Plums. She was born in Coffeen, a daughter of William F. and Ida Edwards Blackwood. Her first husband, Clifford Moorhouse, preceded her in death. She later married Rollie Childers, who also preceded her in death. One brother and four sisters also preceded her in death. Surviving are two nephews. Services were held Thursday in the Lewistown Methodist Church. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
